about users of the Overhaul game and related services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information we collect
1.1 Account information
When you create an account, we collect:
Email address (used for authentication, password recovery, and account notices)
Password (stored only as a salted hash; we cannot see your password)
Display name / handle (your in-game name, visible to other players)
Account credentials (session cookie stored as an HttpOnly token for login persistence)
1.2 Gameplay data
We collect and store information generated by your gameplay, including:
Game state (vehicles, jobs, contracts, in-game currency, progress)

Chat messages and CB radio transmissions

IP address (used for security, abuse prevention, and rough geographic detection for job generation)

Precise GPS location (we derive rough region from IP for gameplay purposes only)
Government-issued identification numbers
Credit or debit card numbers on our servers (payments are processed by third-party processors; we never see or store full card numbers)
Biometric data
Data from third-party analytics platforms like Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel (we do not use them)
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:

3. How we share your information
3.1 Service providers
We share limited personal information with third-party service providers who help us operate the Service:

Your in-game activity (when you are online, what contracts you have completed, leaderboard placement)
Your CB radio transmissions and chat messages
Your presence status
3.3 Legal disclosures
We may disclose your information:
When required by law, court order, or valid government request
To enforce the Terms of Service or protect our rights
To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected illegal activities, fraud, or security issues
With your consent
3.4 Business transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or Service notice before such transfer if it results in a material change in how your data is handled.
3.5 No sale of personal information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not engage in data brokering.
4. Data retention
4.1 Active accounts
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. Account data, game state, and in-game progress are retained on our servers during active use.
4.2 Inactive accounts
If you do not log in for an extended period (currently 12 months), your account may be marked dormant. We may periodically clean up dormant accounts to free resources. You will be notified at the email on file before any account deletion.
4.3 Deleted accounts
When you request account deletion (or after extended dormancy), we will delete your personal information from active systems within 30 days, except:
Where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records)
In anonymous, aggregated form that cannot be linked to you
In backup archives retained for disaster recovery (deleted when backups cycle out)
4.4 Log data
Technical and usage logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and troubleshooting, then automatically purged.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
5.1 Session cookie
We use a single HttpOnly cookie (oh_session) to maintain your login session. This cookie:
Cannot be accessed by JavaScript (HttpOnly — protects against XSS theft)
Is sent only to our authentication backend
Does not track you across other sites
5.2 No tracking cookies
We do not use:
Third-party advertising cookies
Cross-site tracking cookies
Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar trackers
Fingerprinting technology
5.3 Browser controls
You can disable cookies in your browser, but you will not be able to log in or use the Service without them.

We will verify your identity before acting on a request and respond within 30 days (45 days where permitted for complex requests). We may extend this period by notifying you.
6.4 Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Data security
7.1 Safeguards
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your personal information, including:
Hashed passwords (we never store passwords in plain text)
HttpOnly, Secure cookies for authentication
Tunneled server access (game server not directly exposed; accessed via encrypted tunnel)
Limited credential access (infrastructure credentials are not shared with collaborators or contractors unless strictly necessary)
Rate limiting on authentication endpoints
Content Security Policy and related browser security headers
Access controls limiting who can view or modify user data
7.2 No absolute security
No system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the security of your data against all threats, but we work to protect it using industry-standard practices.
7.3 Breach notification
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law, generally within 72 hours of discovery where required.
8. International data transfers
Your information is stored on servers located in the United States (Hetzner, Nuremberg — Germany for game server hosting; Cloudflare, global network) and processed by US-based personnel. If you are outside the US, your data is transferred to the US for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
For EU/UK users: this transfer relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or another lawful transfer mechanism where required. By using the Service, you consent to these transfers.
9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice in the Service. The updated version is effective on the "Date last updated" at the top of this document. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
